Bringing “High Quality Outdoor Learning” to a Wider Community
We’re excited to share some great news — the Hong Kong Outdoor Learning Association has completed the Traditional Chinese translation of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL)’s well-known guide, High Quality Outdoor Learning!

This project helps make the IOL’s ideas and framework more accessible to educators, facilitators, and organizations across our region who are passionate about meaningful learning outdoors.
A big thank you goes to Murphy Ho for his careful work in checking and improving the translation, and to the Institute for Outdoor Learning and Dave Harvey for creating this valuable resource and allowing us to bring it to a new audience.
High Quality Outdoor Learning is a useful resource that explores what makes outdoor learning effective and impactful. It includes sections on the 10 outcomes of outdoor learning, principles of good practice, and how to plan, deliver, and review experiences.
This resource can support:
Teachers and educators who want to strengthen outdoor learning in their curriculum.
Facilitators and program leaders designing activities with clear goals and lasting impact.
Schools and organizations looking to evaluate and communicate the value of their programs.
We’re proud to help connect our local community with international best practice and look forward to seeing how this translation supports the continued growth of outdoor learning in Hong Kong and beyond.
Full English- language versions of the High Quality Outdoor Learning document can be found on the IOL's website here.
