In this session led by Kitty Tam and her team at Civic Exchange, attendees are invited to explore how policy work on climate, nature and learning is shaping the future of outdoor education in Hong Kong.  Civic Exchange will share its ongoing efforts to inform government policy in ways that affect the outdoor education sector today and over the next decade, from nature-based solutions and biodiversity strategies to eco‑tourism and environmental education.

Together, attendees will look at the local realities of climate change and biodiversity loss, and consider how thoughtful ecotourism and environmental education can help ease these pressures while deepening people’s connection to nature.  Through examples from Civic Exchange’s work with schools, NGOs and government partners, the session will show how policy‑aligned projects—such as nature‑based solutions, campus greening and place‑based learning—can support curriculum goals and the long‑term resilience of outdoor programmes.

The session then moves into a facilitated group discussion, where attendees can connect these policy trends to their own context.  In small groups, educators and providers will reflect on the most pressing challenges and most promising opportunities for the outdoor education sector now and in the coming decade, before sharing key insights to help shape collective next steps for advocacy, partnership and capacity‑building.
