About the Role

A PROGRAM COORDINATOR is an individual who is a competent and experienced outdoor leader, who has with a season or more worth of experience coordinating outdoor programmes (preferably 5 or more programmes). They act as a role model and mentor for other staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary field representative of Asia Adventure Sport. The point person liaising between clients in the field, field staff and the AAS Team.

  • Provide the vision and guidance for the programs under their care and provide the necessary tools to staff for them to execute that vision.

  • Assign responsibilities and tasks to Instructors and Group Leaders to ensure the tasks completion

  • Acts as a role model and mentor to AAS staff

  • Able to answer questions and lead by example with regards to AAS policies and procedures, giving good, solid reasoning and substantiation

  • Ensure AAS programs meet or exceed the expected standard

  • Lead AAS programs in a safe and efficient manner, attending to the physical, social and emotional well-being of the participants at all times

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, good judgment (according to training, policies and current industry best practices), planning with attention to detail and risk management and organisational skills in preparing, leading and wrapping up AAS programs.

  • Facilitate educational outcomes for the participants, though framing, frontloading/funnelling the activity, using debriefing techniques (reviewing and reflection) and creating links to enable transfer of learning

  • Provide First Aid care if and as needed, to their level of training and according to the policies of AAS

  • Lead high dynamic activities, that can include (but not limited to), kayaking, cycling, rock climbing

  • Lead low dynamic activities, that can include (but not limited to), icebreakers, teambuilding activities, nature walks.

  • Prepare lesson plans for each programme to ensure educational themes and progression

  • Receive and give professional affirmative and developmental feedback to and from all levels of AAS

  • Maintain open and respectful communication with other AAS staff, clients, teachers, and the public

  • Provide pastoral care as and when needed

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist in logistical tasks, that can include (but not limited to), moving and repairing equipment, purchasing program food, cooking for participants, cleaning common and office areas and staff accommodation

  • Assist in office work and program development work, as needed

  • Lead or assist staff training in their areas of expertise and offer new areas or share knowledge for other staff to improve their skills

  • Be proactive in leading and assisting in improvement projects or bringing them to the attention of management if needed

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid first-aid certificate preferable.

  • Outdoor certifications (e.g., rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, team building) preferable.

  • Good command of both spoken and written English.
