About the Event

Calling all nature-orientated teachers, youth development professionals and

anyone interested in how nature-based education can address our collective

nature deficit disorder!

Hosted by the HKU Digital Arboretum, The Division of Landscape Architecture, The

University of Hong Kong

The event will be an opportunity to explore the relationship between planting and trees and teaching and learning. This includes teaching about trees and how trees can inspire learning (about nature and learning generally).

This is an extension of the existing HKU Digital Arboretum which can be viewed at www.digarb.hku.hk

The event will be a mixture of:

  • Short mini-Ted-Talk lectures, led by teachers talking about their experiences, successful teaching techniques and critiques of the current level of teaching in this field

  • Students’ feedback and experiences

  • Project and table activity organisers

A mini educational fair with table activities and demonstrations, and outdoor activities like tree climbing, tree identification, and tree planting or removal of invasive species. The event will take advantage of the beautiful and verdant surroundings at the venue.

The event would finish with a panel session on "What's next for planting knowledge!?"

Full rundown in gallery below.

Cost: Entrance is free, however there is $70 self-pay lunch.
